Perhaps the most talented ensemble in the past eight years, this group performed A Bill Chase Medley in what was my final competition as a marching band director. As I transitioned into the role of Fine Arts Administrator, this performance served as both a celebration of the students’ remarkable growth and a meaningful personal milestone.

After intentionally stepping away from the State Marching Festival to refine competitive standards through out-of-state festivals, the ensemble returned under an entirely volunteer model. Despite this significant shift, they achieved Superior ratings across the season. They were one of only a select few programs statewide to earn a Superior with Distinction at State—a testament to the students’ commitment, resilience, and elevated performance standards.

Unfortunately, there is no available video footage from this year. The recording was the first full run of the show for an audience. Eventually, the band finished 1st at the Gilbert Invitational as rankings were allowed in Arizona for a trial run (and not accepted until 2009).
